Dickens Festival Takes Over Port Jefferson Village for 17th Year

portjeff.com

Started in 1996, the Dickens Festival in Port Jefferson, Long Island has become a premier holiday event.

Running from Nov. 30-Dec. 2, the weekend festival features costumed characters, decorated streets and shops, Victorian entertainment and food. This holiday festival offers many free or low-cost attractions.

There are performances, an old-fashioned marketplace on East Main Street, carriage and trolley rides, a lantern-lit house tour of historic homes and a Grand Final Parade, all sponsored by the Greater Port Jefferson Northern Brookhaven Arts Council.

The fun starts at 4 p.m. Nov. 30 with a Toys for Tots Model Railroad exhibit and ends with a live performance of “A Christmas Carol” at 8 p.m. Dec. 2 at the theater.

In between, there’s a parade, ice skating, a gingerbread house contest, live shows, performances and music. There’s plenty for kids and adults alike. Check out the full list of events.
