Yes, it is true!  The hamburger was invented at the Erie County Fair in Hamburg, New York in 1885.  And the classic American sandwich’s namesake has been celebrating it for more than a quarter century with a grand community wide festival.  Burger Fest 2013 is Saturday July 20 in Hamburg in western New York.

The event features all of the tried and true hallmarks of a typical small town festival:  arts and crafts exhibits, live music, fun activities for kids, a 5K road race plus lots of hamburgers!  The “Taste of Hamburg” will feature samplings from more than two dozen area restaurants.  Hundreds attend each year to wolf down burgers and say (probably to themselves) “All hail the hamburger!”
