The legend of Sinterklaas comes to life in historic Rhinebeck (Dutchess County) on Saturday, Dec.1.
This festival is the culmination of a five-week process in which hundreds of locals throughout the Hudson Valley get involved in the exciting event leading up to “the big day.” The arrival of Sinterklaas celebrates the deep, rich Dutch heritage of the region. The day includes music, food (much of it traditional Dutch holiday treats), parades, children’s activities, storytelling, dancers, giant puppets and more. Merriment fills the air of historic Rhinebeck, a lovely community whose origins date back more than three hundred years.
Many of the days events are located at or near The Beekman Arms Inn, 6387 Mill Street, the oldest continuously operated inn in America (est. 1766).
