A Charming Holiday Festival Welcomes Sinterklaas To Historic Rhinbeck!

The legend of Sinterklaas comes to life in historic Rhinebeck (Dutchess County) on Saturday, Dec.1.

This festival is the culmination of a five-week process in which hundreds of locals throughout the Hudson Valley get involved in the exciting event leading up to “the big day.”  The arrival of Sinterklaas celebrates the deep, rich Dutch heritage of the region.  The day includes music, food (much of it traditional Dutch holiday treats), parades, children’s activities, storytelling, dancers, giant puppets and more.  Merriment fills the air of historic Rhinebeck, a lovely community whose origins date back more than three hundred years.

Many of the days events are located at or near The Beekman Arms Inn, 6387 Mill Street, the oldest continuously operated inn in America (est. 1766).

About "Big Chuck"

Hi folks, this is "Big Chuck" here. I love Upstate New York! I have written several books about the region, do a lot of public speaking around the state, am an award-winning radio broadcaster (since 1989), write a bi-monthly newspaper column and give walking tours of Cooperstown, N.Y. Yes, I do keep busy! I hope we can share some Upstate stories on this blog! If you would like to take a look at my series of Upstate New York books visit www.upstatenewyorkbooks.vpweb.com
